The Pleasant Street Diner will reopen its doors on Thursday, March 5, nearly a month after a fire tore through the former Sobeys property in the complex shared by the diner and other businesses.

“After several weeks of extensive restoration, we are ready to safely open our doors again. Thursday, March 5th, we welcome back all of our staff and wonderful customers,” a March 3 post on the diner’s Facebook page noted. “Thank you for your patience. Tommy will miss his afternoons with Momma watching Young and the Restless, but is excited to see daylight again…see you all soon!”

MacKay’s PharmaChoice, Efty Dishes, and HDR Vapes have yet to announce a reopening.

MacKay’s has provided several Facebook updates; the latest, from Feb. 19, informs customers that prescriptions can be filled at Family Drug PharmaChoice at 382 Portland Street, and that postal services are available at King’s Wharf. A Feb. 26 Facebook post from HDR Vapes notes that free delivery is available by calling or texting (902) 229-6048.

Efty Dishes’ website says the restaurant is still closed, but its flagship operation on Lacewood Drive remains open. A Feb. 10 Facebook post from Alexandra’s Pizza advises customers to order from the Burnside or Cole Harbour locations.

The Woodside Tavern was never affected by the fire and continues to be open as usual.

The Pleasant-Woodside neighbourhood has seen two significant fires in the past month, the latest involving a home on Renfrew Street. The family made it out safely but lost everything in the March 2 blaze. Donations are being collected on GoFundMe and at the North Woodside Community Centre to help the family restart their lives.
