Cleanup hauls 40 bags of trash, other debris from public spaces

Despite the threat of rain, volunteers collected around 40 bags of trash at the annual Pleasant-Woodside Neighbourhood Association community cleanup on April 26.
Thirty volunteers searched for garbage in the areas from the Newcastle playground down to the Woodside Ferry Terminal, picking up litter from wooded areas, near trails, and along Pleasant Street.
Dartmouth South MLA Claudia Chender and HRM District 3 Councillor Becky Kent both came with staffers and family and helped out with the effort.
The three-hour cleanup was part of the larger and ongoing Great Nova Scotia Pick-Me-Up, organized through the province’s Adobt-a-Highway Program and supported by Glad, Divert NS, and others.
The Pleasant-Woodside Neighbourhood Association thanks all the dedicated volunteers, including Elizabeth Crook, who provided snacks.
